Each writer’s workshop should start with a 10-15 minute mini-lesson. This workshop will review how to structure those mini-lessons to teach each skill in three days, incorporate mentor texts, and boost student engagement and interaction.
We will plan a mini-lesson that includes the following sections: introduce a trait, give explicit instruction/model the trait, provide time for interaction with texts and one another, and close with specific instructions for writing.
